Aiden smirked as he playfully hit the arm of his fellow soldier, “You’re hilarious!  You know anyone would be happy to have you!” he said, leaning close teasing his comrade.

“You know this is never going to work,” his buddy whispered harshly.

Aiden just laughed, “Oh, on the contrary.”  He looked confidently over towards a gathering group of women, exchanging whispers of their lustful thoughts about the group of soldiers.

“Watch and learn boys,” he finished; walking over to the women whose faces gleamed and blushed as he made his way into their personal space.  He picked out one in particular that he took a liking to, “Hello, what world did you fall from?  Your beauty is heavenly.”  His blonde hair hid one of his eyes from their view, intriguing them more.
The group of girls giggled as the young woman he had picked, responded to him, “Hello there, how are you?”  Her cheeks grew red as she eyed his body up and down.

He answered her right away, “Oh I am very good now that my eyes have seen you.”  He leaned close to her, tilted her chin up and kissed her gently on the lips before a voice rang out, “Aiden! Stop fooling around and let’s get going. We just got a lead on where the queen is being held! Leave your physical pleasures for another time.”

Aiden rolled his eyes, “Alright, Aisling!” he said, then smirked looking at the girl, stroking her face before he adjusted his sword and walked back over to his fellow knights.

The men watched as the group of women giggled and scurried away, leaving Aiden basking in glory.  One of his fellow soldiers narrowed his eyes at him, “How do you even do that?  How does your cocksure banter with your comrades get you girls?  You would think that would give you the opposite effect.”

Aiden shrugged, “What can I say; it’s a gift.”

“Keep it in your pants, Aiden.” Aisling said.

The soldiers around him chuckled as Aiden turned his glance towards Aisling.  His blonde cat ears arched back in embarrassment, his tail swished quickly back and forth, which made his comrades laugh even harder.

He ran to the front of the troupe, where Aisling stood.  She was a tough woman, one that kept all the soldiers in place.  She did not let her gender weaken her ability to lead a pack of men.  She was motherly to all of the men but appeared to have a special interest in humiliating Aiden in front of everyone.  He liked it nevertheless as he enjoyed the match of egos.

When he arrived at the front, he saw Lana next to her.  She was always at her side, treating her like an older sister.  Lana was sought after by all the men, her pastel pink hair, tail and ears dazzled them.

“Stop embarrassing me like that, Aisling,” Aiden said, clearly annoyed.

Lana hissed and clung onto Aislings’s arm, her fiery red eyes blazing at Aiden. “Leave Aisling alone; it’s not her fault.  You’re a dog, you know!” she said, stifling a laugh as she realized the irony of her comment.

Aiden rolled his eyes yet again, “Is it make fun of Aiden day or something?”

Aisling shook her head, “Don’t get all hurt, Aiden. Your mind was not focused and picking on you is what works best to bring you back to reality.”

Lana nodded, “We have a clue to the whereabouts of the queen.”

Aiden perked up.  They had been on this hunt for many weeks now, searching for the white queen who had been kidnapped by unknown intruders.  They were severely punished for allowing the abduction of the empress so they were intent on finding her.  They were elated that after many weeks they finally received a clue.

“What is the lead?” Aiden said, almost shouting.  All the other soldiers, ten or so of them, leaned in close as they continued to walk, trying to hear what was being said about the person their mission revolved around.

Aisling’s black hair softly blew in the wind as she spoke, “It has been revealed to me that the queen is being held in the north in a kingdom along the Trie Mountains.”

Aiden rubbed his ears in worry, “Oh, the Trie Mountains are so cold!  It always snows there and we didn’t bring clothes adequate enough to protect us from such elements.”

Lana hissed at him, “Of course she knows that!  We are planning to stop in a town at the base of the mountains, to switch out our clothes and stay warm.  Obviously Lady Aisling would not let us freeze!”

Aiden scowled as another chuckle erupted from the group behind him. He crossed his arms and slowed down his walking pace so that he was quickly becoming the last one in the pack.

He wished he wasn’t even here.  Of course, he liked fighting but he was a ladies man at heart and he was tired of being humiliated by Lana.  He knew, however, that the real reason why he was so upset was he could not crack Lana.  What did she have against him that she would not allow herself to open up to him?

He shook his head hard trying to get the thoughts of her out but to no avail.  He flirted with the girl in the town on purpose to see if he would get a rise out of her but still, nothing.  He grew disheartened as his countless attempts kept backfiring on him.

“What’s wrong, Aiden?  Is it Lana?”

Aiden turned toward his friend, his light blue hair masking the eye patch he wore over one eye. “I guess,” he said annoyingly.  “Why do you care so much, Rez?”

Rez just shrugged, “It just seems to me like you have a crush on her, kind of like everyone on this squad.  It really comes with the territory when she is the only female.”

Aiden’s ears moved, “I guess…I mean Aisling doesn’t really count since she is more of a mother to all of us.  I just hate having to compete against anyone.”

Rez laughed, “Well as I see it right now, Lana hasn’t really made a move on anyone.  She is stuck to the hip of Aisling. So, I would say you are pretty even right now when it comes to winning her affection.”

“Weapons ready! We are surrounded!”  The strict voice of Aisling yelled.

Aiden tensed his body up, along with Rez when they saw their outmatched group being surrounded by a much larger squad.  He cursed to himself that no one here had heard them coming.  They all have their feline instincts, yet none of them had sensed anything?  It made him wary that they were using some sort of magic. They wore gray tunics, with a red and black strike mark along the arms, signaling they fought for the opposing queen.

Aiden quickly looked towards Lana who had her sword out already.  He wanted to protect her but he was now too far away.  He returned his gaze to the opposing soldiers near him.  In a flash, he pulled his sword out of his sheath and engaged in combat with the nearest enemy.

This is a very interesting story! You didn't quite do us a cliffhanger, this time, but the story could easily continue--I mean, does Aiden even survive the battle just beginning? Check the next chapter....:XD:

The flirting, the banter among the knights, the interaction between Aisling, Lana, and Aiden, all seem very realistic and easy to imagine! I love the parts where he indulges in catlike behavior, like switching his tail and turning his ears back when irritated, and then the little touch where he rubs his ears in worry--somehow I feel like an anthro-cat like him would do just that! I like the move where he slows down till he's in back, in embarrassment--I can just see that!

One tiny thing: I suspect that you meant to say, "The group of girls giggled as at the young woman he had picked responded to him..."
