The next day brought no reprieve to Anastasia’s broken heart. She had finally met a man that was worthy of her feelings, that she felt at least to be worthy. The emotions she felt when she was around him made her heart jump and she yearned to always be with him. She had just met him and that was granted but she had longed to have a man in her life…but also a friend. What were the chances that she would find both on the same day and to have them both be in a relationship together?

She buried her face under the covers; she did not want this day to happen. She was going to greet her first love interest and her first friend into her house today. Not only had that tabby cat won her heart he also betrayed it but what made it worse was Lexi had no knowledge that their encounter had even happened. What was she to tell her? That the boyfriend that she loved had actually made a move on her when she had been gone? That would make her risk not only her friendship but the relationship she wished she had with the tabby cat.

Depression began to enter her mind again, clawing its talons through her good thoughts. She felt like calling off this meeting but she had not exchanged phone numbers with the cats so there was no way to cancel until they already were there.

“Anastasia! Your friend is here!” the voice of her master shouted at her from up the stairs.

She growled and shoved the covers off of her body and fixed her dress and her hair before fleeing down towards the front door, down the steps and into the living room.  She wished she could just run away from this problem but she knew there was no way for her to get out of this now. She would just have to grin and bear this day and just hope that it would be over soon. She just wondered which friend of hers had gotten here first; she grew worried at that factor as well.

As she made it to the front door she saw no other than the tabby cat. He looked so handsome, his grey shirt and black pants made his hair stand out. He swished his tail back and forth in excitement to see her and as her master closed the door she smiled,

“Well I’ll leave you all be! I have to make quite a few calls today! If you need me I’ll be in my office.” She then left them alone and walked up the staircase leaving Anastasia alone with the man.

There was silence for a while until he spoke up, “Hello beautiful, it’s me Dalton. I’m glad you allowed me back into your house. Your beauty does not match it though.” He finished, raising his hand to her cheek.

She moved her face away and spoke back to him, “How dare you.” She whispered harshly.

The man cocked his head, “What did I do?”

She grabbed his hand and led him to the couch near-by, the same couch that they had met the first time. As they sat down she spoke to him, “You are honestly going to flirt with me right in front of my face when you are going out with Lexi?!”

Dalton shook his hands in the air, “Wait! Wow, wow, I am not her boyfriend! She is a very good friend of mine, she always flirts with me so I flirt back, I didn’t think she took that as us being an item. I’m sorry if you thought we were but that is not the case at all. I love her as a friend nothing more than that!”

Anastasia was relieved that they were not an item but it also worried her because what purpose would Lexi have to make something like that up? She thought they were friends, so what was the point? Was it because she saw how Anastasia was looking at Dalton? This scene just turned even more complicated and she was at a loss of what to do. Was she to continue to be with this man that she felt such a connection with not only physically but mentally? Or was she to keep her only friend that she had made? She knew she would have to talk to Lexi when she got here but for now she looked at Dalton, “That is what she told me.”

Dalton rubbed his ears, “I don’t understand why she would say something like that if it wasn’t true. I mean she does get really jealous whenever I talk to another girl. Perhaps she was watching us the whole time and when I left she came back and made it seem as if she was in a relationship with me to get you off my back?”

A knock entered the room and she turned to the tabby cat, “We will soon find out, she is here.”

Dalton stood up, “Wait what?! You invited her here?!”
The ragdoll nodded, “Of course I did, this was before I even met you and now that she lied to me I don’t know what to think anymore. We need to talk to her to get the right information down.”

Dalton looked nervous but she opened the door and saw Lexi. The fur on her tail and ears shining brightly in the sun, she attacked the ragdoll and hugged her tightly, “Hey sweetie! I tried to get Dalton to come with me but he said he couldn’t make it!”

“I said what?” Dalton asked, clearly annoyed as he stood up and walked towards the door.
Anastasia grew nervous as the energy in the room thickened, “How about we all just sit on the couch, relax and talk it out?”

She grabbed Lexi’s hand and led her to the couch and as they all sat back down the tension only heightened within the room. The ragdoll was about to speak until Lexi stepped in, “What are you doing here?”

Dalton chuckled, “You don’t need to know. The more important question here is why would you tell Anastasia that we were a couple when we are not?”

Lexi let her mouth drop open, “How could we not be together?! We flirt all the time not to mention all those time we….” She took a deep breath, “The way you treated me made it evident that we were together! Why are you here at her house?”

Dalton shook his head, “Come on! There was no obligation for what we did, it was all in good fun and you knew that! There were no promises to be made, we just had fun! I don’t appreciate you lying to potential relationships of mine!”

Anastasia’s face grew red and she scooted farther away from them both. Did Dalton just admit that he wanted to start a relationship with her? After all this time she had finally found someone to share her love but at what price? She looked at Lexi who seemed to almost be in tears. Was she to give up the friendship with her? The ragdoll knew if she chose Lexi then she would lose Dalton and vice versa. It was a catch twenty-two and her eyes began to water as she realized the once perfect scene was now crumbling right in front of her eyes.

Dalton turned towards her, “Please, don’t cry!” He looked back towards Lexi, “Look what you did!”

Lexi shook her hands, “That had nothing to do with me!”

“What are you talking about?!” Dalton screamed, “You were the one that lied to her face! If it was not one hundred percent true why would you say we were a couple!? I have feelings for Anastasia, okay?”

Lexi held her breath, the one man that she had feelings for ended up liking her new friend, secretly her only friend? What was she to do now…to just give up her love so that her friend could have it? No, there was no way she was going to do that; she had to think of something else.

“Well then I guess we will just have to fight for your affection. I know we have chemistry, Dalton. It is evident in the things that we have done and I won’t give up. I know what I did was wrong,” she looked at Anastasia but then back at Dalton, “But I will win your hand, regardless if I have to fight for it.”

Dalton was shocked at her spunk but he also admired it. He cared for Anastasia but he knew Lexi far better. She had always been a friend with benefits and he never thought about having a relationship with her so he didn’t see any reason to not agree. He still feared of what Anastasia would say, she was such a gem and he didn’t want this to hurt her in any way.

“What do you think about this, Anastasia?”

The ragdoll wiped her tears and as much as she wanted to protest to fighting for the first guy that showed interest in her, she knew good things never came easily. If she was going to have to fight for him then that was what she was going to do. However, that did not mean she would neglect her friendship with Lexi.

“It is fine with me, as long as we are still friends, Lexi.”

Lexi smiled and leaned over, hugging her closely, “Of course. Please never think that something like this would break the bond I felt with you. You are a beautiful person inside and out and I’m honored to have your friendship.” Lexi knew what she said was true, this was her only friend and she was not going to let some guy ruin it for her. As much as she loved Dalton and wished he was only hers she had no choice but to settle for this agreement.

Dalton on the other hand began to feel a little uneasy, as he thought about it; one girl was hard enough to keep up with but now two? What had he gotten himself into? He thought instantly to his best friend and knew he had to bring him into this mess, to hopefully get Lexi off his back. He just hoped it wouldn’t back fire on him and potentially have Anastasia fall for his friend. He knew things were about to get crazy but he was willing to do what he had to, to win the ragdolls heart.
