Chiio twirled her thumbs anxiously; a light blush warmed her face as she looked around. She disliked being left by herself, although he said he would be right back, she couldn’t help but feel apprehensive. She had started out alone and abandoned, so the fear was very prominent within her. She knew he was going to come back but she couldn’t shake that fear.
She turned her head and watched as many individuals walked past her. They all looked so happy, but she knew they all had some kind of sadness hidden deep within them. Chiio had her own dark secret that she held hidden, and she would never have the intention of telling anyone.

“What are you thinking about?”

She felt the bench she was sitting on, move as a man sat next to her. He was a couple years older and she felt apprehension wash over her mind. She twirled her thumbs again, faster now, her face burning up.

What was this man doing? Why was this stranger sitting down next to her, striking up a conversation as if they knew anything about one another?

“Uh, what?” she tried to keep calm, but she was not a very confident person, she relied too much on the man that had saved her, took her into his home and took care of her.

The man moved closer to her, “You have very beautiful hair. I don’t see that color quite often around here. Where are you from, beautiful?”

Did he really think she was beautiful? This man seemed so sincere and nice; she began to open up to him.

Yet, she was too young and naïve to understand that this predator was on a prowl.

“Aw, thank you sir,” she stroked her hair within her small pale fingers, “I honestly got teased a lot for the color of my hair in school, so it really didn’t help me with making a lot of friends. They always wanted me to admit to them that it was fake, but I couldn’t just lie to them.”

The man chuckled, moving even closer to her, but in a way that youthful Chiio could not pick up.

“That wasn’t very nice of them. I on the other hand,” he touched her hand softly, brushing it with his fingers, as he moved his touch to her hair, “Think it is very beautiful. You know, those kids were probably just jealous.”

Chiio nodded, “I know, I think they were, but I would hate to make anyone feel inferior, I just want everyone to like me.”

The man rubbed her hair, “You know, I can be your friend if you want. You seem like an intelligent young girl. I don’t want you to ever feel bad for something you can’t control, other kids will always be jealous because you are gorgeous. You’re such a cute puppy.” He grinned and raised his hand up and massaged her soft canine ears.

Chiio smiled candidly at his compliment, “Of course, you can be my friend! I love making friends!”

The man let go of her hair and reached out for her hand, “Hey, I can show you something really cool if you want. But it’s a secret, so we have to keep quite okay? If anyone found out that I had such an amazing present, they would try to steal it.”

Chiio held her breath and leaned in closer, “What is it?” she looked around her, careful not to tip off the traveling people around them.

The man looked around too, before answering her, “It is a gift that I think would look quite stunning on you, do you want to come with me and try it on?”

Chiio perked up, “It’s a new outfit?! Oh I always wanted a new outfit; I’ve had this old one for so long!”

The man hushed her, “Yes, of course, it is a new outfit, so would you like to go?”

“Go where exactly?” A very stern and angry voice said from the side of them.

Chiio’s ears perked up as she heard the voice of the man that was taking care of her,  that had brought her in when she had nowhere else to go—her rescuer.

“Isaac!” she released her hand from the man and jumped up, tackling Isaac in a hug, “I missed you! Where have you been?”

Isaac let Chiio finish her hug but then he gently moved her to the side, “Hold this,” he said to her, giving her a large bag filled with food.

“What is wrong, Isaac?” Her face saddened, but she perked up right away as she ran over to the man, “Oh Isaac, this man has been really nice to me while I was waiting for you!”

Isaac gritted his teeth, “Chiio, get away from him, now.”

Chiio tilted her head, but listened to him, and walked over towards Isaac.

The man looked angry but Isaac just tensed his fists, “What were you trying to pull with her?”

“What do you mean?” The man asked.

“Don’t play dumb with me, you sick bastard.” The anger that was welling up within Isaac grew tenfold.

The man shook his hands, “I don’t know what you are talking about okay? I was just trying to keep her company.”

Isaac walked closer to him, “If you don’t leave right now, I am going to make you wish you hadn’t even laid your sick eyes on her.”

The man knew he had no chance against this kid, he was in prime shape and the anger upon his face was an emotion that could only be fueled by another passion.

“Okay fine, don’t get crazy now.” The stranger picked up the bags he had set down and took off into the crowd of people that had surrounded them.

Isaac turned towards Chiio, “Isaac, what is wrong? Why are you so angry?”

He did not answer her, instead his face softened, and he pulled her into a hug, pushing her body into his protectively.

NK~~I almost cried :iconnotcryingplz: at the danger Chiio was in, out of fear for her!  She is so pretty, but so naive...But Isaac came and ended it perfectly--and the hug is the perfect way to take Chiio's confusion away!  I love this story!

The magic of good writing....
